From our Family to yours

Independent & family-owned

Originally from Essex, The Hagon family moved to Honiton over twenty years ago and have called it home ever since.

The bar is named after one of the owners, Jim ‘Bruv’ Hagon, who had a long-running dream of running a pub. That became reality when an opportunity came up to take on the old Cafe 102 Bar, which was a much loved venue in the town for several years. Jim is well-known for calling everyone ‘Bruv’ – hence the bar’s name.

Having stood empty for three years the building needed a major refurbishment, which Jim and friends spent three months to complete. Everything from the tables to the bar itself was expertly crafted by Jim from hand.

But it’s been a real family affair when it comes to running the pub. Joining Jim is his wife, Sharon, son Reece, daughter Shannon and Reece’s wife, Lauren. We’re a friendly bunch, so we love it if you fancy a chat over a drink!

Inclusive and Accessible

We don’t want any of our customers to feel excluded so we’ve installed an accessible toilet and included baby-changing facilities.

Additionally, we have ramps for all the steps so the whole bar is disabled and wheelchair accessible.

The Team of Dreams

We think we’ve picked a pretty good bunch, so we don’t want to hide them away!

Jim ‘Bruv’

Having refurbed most of the bar himself, you’ll now often find him with a well-deserved Stella in hand or watching the Arsenal game. He’s super handy so deals with all the maintenance on the bar.

The Bruv’s Bar Mum. From devising new menus and sourcing new drinks to helping out behind the bar, Sharon is the glue that holds it all together. Her favourite event is our 80s nights.

Marketing extraordinaire, Lauren runs our social media pages, runs our advertising and designs the posters and menus. She also dabbles in HR and bookkeeping. She LOVES a karaoke night.

A heap of fun, Shannon is the only female to have completed our Gut Buster breakfast. She’s one of our personal license holders and makes sure everything runs smoothly. Ask her about her special shot she created!

Reece is our meeting chairman and Agony Uncle! He’s the one who looks after us all and steers us in the right direction. He’s the reigning champion of our Bruv’s Burger Challenge.

Laura has been with us from the very beginning and we don’t know what we’d do without her. She’s our second personal license holder and is super organised. She keeps us all in check!

Caz has been with us since the start of our kitchen opening and helped us with everything from shaping the menu to choosing the appliances. She’s well known for her awesome breakfasts.

Mark has cooked for several celebrities and now we’re fortunate enough to have him as part of the team. He started his career as a chef at the 102 (previous ownership) so he’s come home! He’s a pro at our roast dinners!

Josh joined us in August 2020 and has bought his soul to the kitchen! You’ll often find him listening to some banging tunes while making a top notch burger. He’s super passionate about good food.

Toni has been with us since Bruv’s Bar was just an idea and is such a valuable member of the team. She’s fab to chat to and will be rocking out behind the bar on one of our live music nights.

You’ll love Deanna, she’s down to earth and super friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. She makes an awesome coffee… we highly recommend one of her delicious deluxe hot chocolates.

Described by a reviewer on Tripadvisor as a real credit to the establishment, Kai’s qualities include excellent customer service. You’ll find him at the weekends as he’s busy working hard towards his A levels.

Dave takes so much pride in his work and is a perfectionist (especially when it comes to the cleaning). Outside of work you’ll find him with a glow stick in hand singing along to some dance tunes!

Lee’s our self employed delivery driver but he’s still very much part of the team. He’s known for delivering your food hot and with a smile. He once dressed up as Adam Ant on one of our 80s nights!

Her favourite thing to do is run up and down the bar when we’re closed and eat scrambled egg from the kitchen. Don’t be fooled by her cute appearance, she’ll be bossing us all around in no time at all!

Dog Friendly Pub

We LOVE dogs and love it when your four legged friends visit. They’re guaranteed a fuss and a treat. We can offer them fresh water and you can even purchase some dog ice cream so they feel included.

Our very own dog, Prince (pictured centre) is probably the softest security dog you’ll ever meet!

All we ask is that you keep your pooch on a lead at all times.
